Gilles L. Lemay, Owner:

Gilles L. Lemay has been involved with the ecoENERGY assessments and previous to this, the EnerGuide for Houses program since June 2003. His expertise and knowledge in building sciences has allowed him to develop from a Certified Energy Advisor to Technical Trainer and Quality Assurance Auditor. He also has 15 + years extensive background in carpentry, renovations and commercial glazing which gives him a solid knowledge base of construction practices, energy efficient renovation practices, and product knowledge of various building material.

Our Certified ecoENERGY Advisors:

Our experienced energy advisors have extensive knowledge in the field of building science and technology, and are certified by Natural Resources Canada. They need to complete extensive training and mentorship to perform residential energy assessments under the ecoENERGY Retrofit - Homes initiative.

Our energy advisors are required to attend intensive internal courses and in-the-field training programs focusing on Building Science and House as a System Practices, including but not limited to:

• Emerging energy efficiency technologies
• Control of heat, air and moisture flow
• Heat loss and heat gain calculations
• Insulation, air and vapor barrier materials, health and safety considerations
• Leaking and sealing
• Renovating, additions and new construction
• Windows and doors
• HVAC systems including HRV and ERV
• Operating and maintaining heating systems, ventilation and combustion air
• Renewable energy systems

The energy advisors are randomly reviewed by our quality assurance team to ensure the quality of their work and the satisfaction of our customers. The Government of Canada also reviews our energy assessments and personnel to ensure they meet strict guidelines.
